Lifehouse Concert Review:

April 4th, 2008

930 Club

 Washington, D.C.

Lifehouse's performance at the 9:30 club was a mixture of entertainment, surprises, and fan connection.  Opening for Lifehouse, Honey Honey and Matt Nathanson put on a great performance, both comical, and interactive.  By the time Lifehouse came on, I did not see how Lifehouse would jive with the opening acts.  Honey Honey and Matt Nathanson had an upbeat high tempo feel and I expected Lifehouse would be more of a slow-tempo band.  I was pleasantly surprised with how wrong I was.

Lifehouse put out more of a rock feel and hooked you right in the beginning with their performance of Make Me Over. Through each song the performance from Jason Wade kept you wanting more from each song.  Surprisingly, bassist Bryce Soderberg demonstrated his vocal abilities through lead vocals and strong back up.  Jason and Bryce worked the stage, using all ends of the stage to not only connect with the front row but drew in the fans in the venue with song participation..

If you have the opportunity to see Lifehouse perform I would buy the tickets as early as possible because this show sells out fast.  If they are performing at a general admission venue, make sure you get there early to not only see the opening bands, who provided great entertainment and music, but to also get as close to the stage as possible.  Through the concert and after, the band threw out towels and guitar picks, and if you are one who like souvenirs, this will be a great bonus to a great concert.
