The highly anticipated Glow In The Dark Tour featuring Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D., Rihanna, and Kanye West was met with non stop entertainment.  With a tour name such as Glow In The Dark, one can expect not only talented artists but a quality stage show.  While some artists succeeded in performance, I was left with the feeling that the concept of the tour was lost.

Although Lupe Fiasco wasn't as "fancy" as some of the other performers, his music was refreshing.  Hip-Hop lyrics these days seem to have lost their creativity and talent, putting off a feeling that anyone can get a record contract.  Lupe however performed songs that actually had meaning and a story to tell.  Songs performed included Kick, Push, Go Go Gadget Flow, Superstar, and Hip-Hop Saved My Life. Watching the fans, you could see how the stories and their messages resonated with the audience in a way that made you able to understand and connect to his love for hip-hop.

N.E.R.D. knows how to pack a stage! Not only were there two guitarists, town keyboards, two sets of drums, but there was also a great light show and a big entourage. During the performance to their new single Spaz the cameras came out taping the performance and the crowd, leading everyone to believe this was part of their next video.  An exciting surprise during the performance was having Chris Brown on stage break dancing to the song, acting like a spaz.  They also performed songs such as What's on your IPOD, Brain, Rock Star, and Lapdance.  When meeting Pharrell a few years back, I was excited by how appreciative and humble he was to have me as a fan.  He demonstrated the same feelings at the concert by coming into the crowd and walking around thanking fans and shaking hands.  It is nice to see talented artists appreciate all they have.

Rhianna was the only performer that night that got the whole glow in the dark theme.  She made it interesting to watch by including dancers and glow sticks, which kept the crowd entertained by watching something else besides just the artist.  Rihanna performed many of her hits such as her opening song Breaking Dishes, Break It Off, Hey Mr. DJ, S.OS., Hate That I Love You, Unfaithful, Don't Stop The Music, and Umbrella.  Although I was happy to hear her perform all her great hits, Rihanna did not give me that "wow!" factor I was expecting.  I was glad to see she got the concept of a great stage show, but there was nothing that grabbed me wishing her performance would not end.  It did not stick out in my memory of the night, which I find very disappointing.

Kanye West put more energy into his performance then I have seen from any other performer in a long time.  With a concert that consisted of eighteen songs, his passion never wavered.  He performed such hits as Through The Wire, Diamonds Are Forever, Flashing Lights, All Falls Down, Jesus Walks, Good Life, and Stronger.  However his most touching performance was his tribute to his mother called Hey Mamma.  That song was really touching, however when his background singers sang Journey's Small Town Girl and Kanye sat down to listen, it made the audience feel for him but also got the crowd even more pumped up.  The only draw back to Kanye's concert was his stage show.  I expected an enormous light show that stuck to the glow in the dark theme.  However he had an interesting stage that went with a concept of outer space.  With so many songs to perform, I found myself getting bored of just watching him.  However I may be alone in this opinion because the crowd was going crazy singing and dancing with as much energy that Kanye demonstrated.

All in all this was a great concert.  With such great artists all on one stage I found it worth my time and money spent, because it is hard these days to get a group together of such great caliber.
